SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT

CLC Graduating Students, Family and Friends,

The Class of 2020 spoke and we listened!

In a poll of graduating CLC students, when asked the question:

Knowing that a large group gathering is not possible in the foreseeable future, would you be interested in participating in an event held in an alternative format?

Their answer was a resounding, YES!
(79% of graduating students said Yes/Maybe to this question)

Join the Virtual Commencement Ceremonies

Due to the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19), the May 13-14, 2020 Central Lakes College commencement events will be held VIRTUALLY and not on our campuses. The health and safety of our students, faculty and staff is our number one priority, and the virtual format will allow everyone to participate without any health risk. Note: those who would rather walk across the stage in a physical ceremony may wait and participate in the next one that’s scheduled. Keep an eye on the CLC Graduation website page for more details on events in Fall 2020 and Spring 2021.

What will this alternative format look like? It will be individualized virtual events, tailored to celebrate each student group via a video feed at the scheduled dates and times:

Staples Campus • Wednesday, May 13 at 7 pm

Brainerd Campus (Career and Technical) • Thursday, May 14 at 6 pm

Brainerd Campus (Liberal Arts, includes Nursing RN) • Thursday, May 14 at 7 pm

The events will follow very closely in format to a typical commencement ceremony.

• Welcome and Remarks by President Charlier
• Greetings and Congratulations by the Chancellor of the Minnesota State System
• Address by Student Senate President/Student Honors Speaker
• Recognition of graduates with honors
• Conferring of degrees
• Presentation of the the CLC Class of 2020. Virtual “walk” across the stage:(through submitted photos and individual information)
• Faculty and staff congratulates the graduates
• Ceremony conclusion

The events will be about 45-60 minutes in length and will be available through a video feed on the CLC website and Facebook.
