The purpose of the Career & Transfer Center is to support and empower Central Lakes College students with the resources, skills, and knowledge necessary to be successful with their career exploration, educational planning, and employment search. Explore Careers
College is a great time to explore your career options. It’s okay if you don’t know EXACTLY what you want to do for your career. Take some time to learn more about yourself then learn about the different career options out there to help you make a career plan. The links and resources below can guide you in your exploration.
CareerForce – MN Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED) site, offers a process for your exploration and job seeking with a local office in Brainerd
CareerOneStop- A U.S. Department of Labor site to explore careers, training and jobs
CAREERwise – Minnesota State sponsored site filled with assessments, career and educational information as well as job search tools
Minnesota Career Information System (MCIS) – A private site filled with assessments, career information, salary, job outlook, educational requirements etc., as well as education planning and job search tools. (Please contact the Career & Transfer Center Office at careerservices@clcmn.edu for login information).
O*NET – My Next Move – U.S. Department of Labor site, complete the interest profiler, match your interest to careers to explore further
Workshop – Strong Interest Inventory- Assesses your interests and matches careers to them. See “Upcoming Events” below for more information and to register. There is a $15 fee for this assessment for current students.
Workshop – Myers Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI)- Assesses your personality preferences and helps you determine work and work environments that match your preferences. See “Upcoming Events” below for more information and to register. There is a $15 fee for this assessment for current students.
CCST 1520, Career Planning- This is a 2-credit college class where you will be guided through a variety of career assessments and career exploration so you can establish a career plan. Click here to see when this course is being offered next.

CLC Academic Advisors – Visit with a CLC Academic Advisor
Minnesota Career Information System (MCIS) – Under the Education tab you can learn what and where to study based on your career goals. (Please contact the Career Services Office for login information).
Minnesota Transfer – Your connection to resources about transfer options.
Transferology – A nation-wide network designed to help students answer the question “Will my courses transfer?” This will help you plan and maximize your time at CLC no matter where you want to transfer.
Workshop – Understanding the AA Degree and Transfer- Explains what the AA Degree is and gives resources for you to create your own education and transfer plan. See “Upcoming Events” below for more information and to register.
Meet with College & University representatives when they visit CLC. See “Upcoming Events” below for information on future visits.
CCST 2520, Career Internship Experience– This is a one-credit class where you spend time in a supervised work setting where you can explore careers and gain experience to add to your resume. Click here to see when this course is being offered next.
