CLC Foundation announces new scholarship fund established by the North Central Beekeepers Association
The Central Lakes College Foundation is pleased to announce the creation of a new scholarship fund made possible through the generosity of the North Central Beekeepers Association. This newly established scholarship will provide financial support to a second-year CLC student pursuing a degree in Agricultural Science or Horticulture.
The North Central Beekeepers Association (NCBA), a non-profit group formed in 1949, is dedicated to promoting and developing the beekeeping industry. They assist and educate members and prospective beekeepers, promote the use of honey through various outreach programs, as well as maintain a booth at the Crow Wing County Fair. The NCBA created the scholarship to encourage and empower the next generation of agricultural leaders, who are crucial partners in promoting pollinator health.
“We are deeply grateful to the North Central Beekeepers Association for investing in our students and in the future of sustainable agriculture,” said Jon Aga, Central Lakes College’s Associate Vice President of Advancement. “Their support not only eases the financial burden for our students but also strengthens the connection between education and the vital work of pollinator stewardship in our region.”
Representatives from the North Central Beekeepers Association expressed their enthusiasm for supporting students who will shape the future of Minnesota’s agricultural landscape. “Without agriculture and our youth, we have nothing” stated Association President Burt Scripture.
The North Central Beekeepers Scholarship will be awarded annually to a student who has maintained a minimum 2.0 GPA and demonstrates a commitment to advancing their education in agriculture or horticulture. The scholarship will be available beginning in the 2026-27 academic year. Eligible students are encouraged to apply through the CLC Foundation’s scholarship portal.
