Meet Our Team
Emergency Management and Security Coordinator
I’m Joy Larson, the Emergency Management and Security Coordinator for Central Lakes College. I have 14 years of law enforcement experience, retiring as a Brainerd Police Department sergeant in July, 2016. I take great pride in our Security Department and I try to instill a sense of servant leadership in my officers. Our goal is to serve and to keep our campus community safe. Stop by to say Hi anytime.
My name is Carly Golden, I am from Montevideo MN. I realized I wanted to become a part of law enforcement since I was a volunteer of a circle sentencing program for youth who have been in trouble with the law. I would eventually like to be a deputy in a small town. I have always loved helping people and I plan on continuing with that the rest of my career.
My name is Matt Vogtlin, I graduated from Aitkin High School. I have my associates Degree in law enforcement from CLC and I plan on getting my bachelors in criminal justice at BSU. I am currently enrolled at CLC to get my generals before I transfer over to BSU. I hope to become a patrol officer anywhere in a rural part of Minnesota. The reason why I want to be in law enforcement is because it is a career that is bigger than myself and I would like to be a part of the thin blue line brotherhood and sisterhood.
My name is Grant Zupko. I am pursuing a career in law enforcement because I feel it is the best way I can help my society. This is my dream job because it allows me to feel my impact on society.
My name is Lucas Caturia I’m from Ellsworth Wisconsin. I’m a second year law enforcement student and I want to be a deputy sheriff. I’ve been working with the security department for one year. I work security because it gives me an opportunity to build experience before graduating. I want to go into law enforcement because my family has a history of law enforcement, and I want to follow in their footsteps.
My name is Hunter Brooks, I was born and raised in Grand Rapids, MN. I have wanted to be in law enforcement since I was a kid. I grew up with family members in law enforcement and have always been interested in helping others and leaving places better than I found them. My goal is to begin my career as a patrol officer for St. Paul Police Department and transfer to be a county deputy for any county in northern Minnesota.
My name is Courtney Jones, I am a 2013 Brainerd High School graduate. I am in my second year here at CLC. I have always been interested in law enforcement in many different aspects. My future plans in the law enforcement field are either Juvenile probation or working with any local police department.
My name is Hunter Furstenberg. I’m originally from Elk River and moved to Brainerd in the fall of 2017. To kill time my favorite things to do are hunt, fish, and exercise. My favorite sport is MMA and I watch every chance I get, I love it.
