Event Details

You will accompany CLC Spanish Instructor Tracey Kloeckl-Jiménez and CLC Economics Instructor Dr. Ania Antus, to study at the renowned Institute of Second Language Acquisition (ISLA) in the vibrant city of San Juan, Puerto Rico.  We will explore the historical Old San Juan; take part in a full-day Catamaran sailing and snorkeling excursion; experience the natural beauty of the island at the Cabachuelas (cave) Natural Reserve and Cultural Center at Morovis–where we will take a hike while learning about the northern karst, the Taino cosmology and the ecological diversity of Puerto Rico; get a bird’s-eye view of the natural beauty of the environment via a Zipline Tour at El Toro Verde; learn more about the city’s farmer’s markets and microbusinesses; participate in service learning with the non-profit organization Proyecto Enlace at the G8 community; enjoy beach time at Playa El Escambrón; enjoy delicious and healthy yucca and plantains in a variety of dishes;  and experience a cooking class and salsa dance lessons. We will stay at a beautifully spacious, affordable and secure residence hall (with Wi-Fi!) managed by a nunnery and enjoy typical Puerto Rican dishes.
