Brainerd Campus Renovation Project

Brainerd Student Services and Academic Support Renovation Project

We are thrilled to announce the launch of an exciting, large-scale renovation project on our Brainerd campus!

This transformative initiative is designed to enhance the college experience for our students and community members alike. While we understand that construction may present temporary challenges, the result will be exceptional: modernized spaces that everyone can use and enjoy for years to come.

Project Timeline
Mid-February 2025 through February 2026

Project Scope
This project will renovate and renew approximately 45,458 gross square feet of Student Services and Academic Support space on the Brainerd campus. The goal is to create appropriately sized and strategically located spaces that better serve the needs of CLC students.

Project Updates

The Fitness Center/Weight Room is open.

The Yoga Room is closed until approximately October 1, 2025. We are unable to use the Yoga Room at the beginning of the fall semester, and classes scheduled in this space have been relocated through early October 2025.

The Gymnasium is open for use, including classes for the fall semester. With the start of the fall semester, access to the Gym will be only from the South Corridor.

Athletics/Locker Rooms will be available around October 1, 2025; however, lockers are not expected until November and will require a week or two to install.

The Theater Restroom will be available mid to late September.

North Hallway Restrooms and Corridor to Locker Rooms/Fitness Center will be available around October 1, 2025.

Student Services Renovation will be completed by the end of December 2025, including furniture installation in early to mid-December. We anticipate having the new space open for the Spring Semester Start 2026, including the classrooms that have been repurposed for office space during the construction.

The Percent for the Arts Sculpture will be installed on the South Lawn mid-fall semester.

North Entry (Door #1) Canopy will be started in September 2025 and continue through the end of construction.

Remove barriers to student access and strengthen CLC’s ability to attract prospective students.

2. Improve Student Success
Address structural inefficiencies and create an environment that supports academic achievement and closes the student success gap.

3. Upgrade Academic Spaces
Modernize facilities that serve a significant portion of the student body.

Key components of renovation

Student Services Realignment and Renovation
A comprehensive redesign will streamline access to Student Services staff for both prospective and current students.

Athletic Facility Updates
Complete renovation of the PE/Athletic locker rooms and supporting spaces to better accommodate student needs.
Significant Project Impacts
This renovation will significantly enhance the services and support available to Central Lakes College students. The design prioritizes accessibility and efficiency, starting with a welcoming waiting area that offers flexible check-in options.
