MEN: In their last regular-season home games of the season, the Central Lakes Raiders defeated Vermilion 89-69 on Feb. 6 and Mesabi Range 90-61 on Feb. 5. Sophomore Erik Peeters (pictured) scored 22 points vs. Vermilion, while Amed Farah had 18, Nash Faulk 16, Nick Grewe 12, and Yasin Jama 10 for the 19-4 Raiders (9-1 in North Division of Minnesota College Athletic Conference). In the win over Mesabi, Peeters led with 26 points, Milos Prijovic added 12 and pulled down 10 rebounds, Faulk scored 12 points, and Marcus Ayala 10. Tenacious defense by CLC yielded 21 turnovers by the visitors from Virginia.
WOMEN: On Feb. 5, the Raiders lost to Mesabi Range, 69-48, but the next day they rallied in overtime to defeat Vermilion, 73-62, and raise their conference record to 4-6. Cassie Pearson scored 21 points and had 10 rebounds vs. Mesabi. Carissa Utsch made 3 of 4 from beyond the arc. Against the Ironwomen, Pearson had 18 points and 14 rebounds and Utsch made three 3s, in scoring 13 points, and she had seven rebounds and four assists. Five players reached double figures – Trisha Wippler 15, Brittany Gravelle 12 and Alicia Johnson 10.
