Central Lakes College teamed up with area dental professionals to provide free care to ages 3-18. On Thursday, Feb. 4 and Friday, Feb. 5 during Give Kids a Smile Days the Community Dental Clinic on the Brainerd campus provided free oral exams, x rays, teeth cleaning, and fluoride treatment courtesy of the Minnesota Dental Association and the Central Lakes College Dental Assisting program. Simlar opportunities were offered at Staples at Dr. John Gorton’s dental practice with assistance from Dental Assisting students. More than 130 patients attended the event. Dentists who volunteered their services at the Brainerd campus were Grace Shin, Camille Jensen, Sam Hennies, William Stein, Jeff Hiebert, Matt Rindal, Craig Johnson, and Clint Roberts. This marks the program’s eighth year. Since its inception, the program has served 32,000 young children in hundreds of locations across the state. The donated services top $10 million in value.
