Basketball vs. Rainy River

Sat. Feb. 13 — Men
The Central Lakes College men’s basketball team escaped at Rainy River, 79-78, the Raiders’ 20th in in 25 games this season. Scoring leaders were Nash Faulk (20) and Erik Peeters (19), with Nash hitting five from beyond the arc and Erik nailing four. CLC earned its 10th Northern Division win against two losses by outscoring the home team, 40-36, in the last half.
The Raider women dropped a 66-55 battle at Rainy River, with 28 percent shooting from the field proving too much of a detriment against the Voyageurs. Carlee Davich (pictured) scored 15 points with a trio of three’s, with Trisha Wippler and Brittany Gravelle each getting 12 points. At the FT line, CLC made 10 of 13. The team record is 5-18. At 4-8 in the Division, the Raiders did not qualify for the state tournament. Final game of the season is Sat., Feb. 20 at Itasca.
Next: CLC at Fond du Lac, Cloquet, Wed., Feb. 17.
