An informational meeting for the 2017 CLC Community Band Ireland tour will take place at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 19 in E471 (the Music Rehearsal Hall) of Central Lakes College, Brainerd campus.
The tour, scheduled for June 17-27, 2017, will consist of four concerts in Cork, Killarney, Galway and Dublin. Site-seeing trips all along the tour will give participants a great view of Ireland, its history and culture.
High points will be Blarney Castle where the group will perform one of the concerts, several famous churches, Muckross House in Killarney, the museum of Kerry Life, a lake cruise on Lough Leane, a stop in Limerick, St Mary’s Cathedral, King John’s Castle, Galway and Dublin.
The group will tour several sites in Dublin and possibly conclude with a concert in St Patrick’s Cathedral and a tour of Trinity College. The evening will include a Traditional Irish Music Pub Crawl guided by professional musicians.
Membership in the CLC Band is not necessary to participate in the tour, but the group is looking for some good musicians to enrich its ranks.
