Brainerd Community Theatre Unveils SOMETHING ROTTEN! – A Spectacular Musical Comedy

Get ready to be whisked away to the Renaissance with the Brainerd Community Theatre’s latest production, SOMETHING ROTTEN!, an uproarious musical comedy. Set in the 1590s, this Tony-winning show tells the story of Nick and Nigel Bottom, two brothers who are desperate to write a hit play but are stuck in the shadow of that Renaissance rockstar, William Shakespeare.

SOMETHING ROTTEN! features an array of catchy tunes, vibrant choreography, and a hilarious script that earned it critical acclaim on Broadway. The New York Times lauded the musical as “Broadway’s big, fat hit!” and it promises to bring laughter and unforgettable melodies to our local stage.

The cast is filled with frequent Brainerd Community Theatre performers, including Travis Chaput as Nick Bottom, Sarah Larson as Bea, Noah Barnhart as Nigel Bottom, Baird Brutscher as the pompous William Shakespeare, and 26 additional actors from the Brainerd lakes area. Backstage talents include set design by Tim Leagjeld, costume design by Sharon Hartley, and multiple volunteer crew members. The production is directed and choreographed by the talented Amy Borash, known for last year’s hit productions of 9 To 5 and Kinky Boots.

This production is generously supported by the Five Wings Arts Council and the Minnesota State Arts Board, ensuring that our local talents continue to shine on the community stage.

SOMETHING ROTTEN! runs from April 18-20 and 26-27 at 7 p.m., and on April 27 at 2 p.m., in the Chalberg Theatre at Central Lakes College, Brainerd. Tickets are now on sale and can be purchased online at www.clcperformingarts.com or by calling the Box Office at 218-855-8199.
