Cultural Thursday presents “Judaism on One Foot: An Introduction to Jewish Peoplehood, Beliefs and Practice”

Central Lake College’s Cultural Thursday program is pleased to present “Judaism on One Foot: An Introduction to Jewish Peoplehood, Beliefs and Practice” on Thursday, April 4 at 12 p.m. in the Chalberg Theatre of Central Lakes College, Brainerd campus.

This event is led by Sami Rahamim, Director of Communications and Community Affairs for the Jewish Community Relations Council of Minnesota and the Dakotas (JCRC). As the public affairs voice of the Jewish community, the JCRC fights antisemitism and prejudice, safeguards the Jewish community, advocates for Israel, provides Holocaust education, promotes tolerance and social justice, and builds bridges across the Jewish and broader communities. This presentation provides a history and educational overview of Judaism and answers questions such as, “Who are Jews? What makes Judaism unique among the world’s religions? What does it mean to be both a religion and a people?”

Rahamim has worked with the JCRC since 2018, where he leads communications and casework response for JCRC, produces communications across program areas and serves community members when facing antisemitism or other issues related to their Jewish identity in schools, the workplace, and in public.

Cultural Thursday is the monthly cultural literacy program of Central Lakes College that invites and hosts speakers from around the world to help attendees better understand the diverse peoples, perspectives and places of our planet.
