CLC Cultural Thursday final event of academic year

Central Lakes College’s Cultural Thursday series will host the final presentation of the 2017-18 academic year on Thursday, May 3 at 12 noon in the Chalberg Theatre, Brainerd campus.

CLC alum Antonio Caudillo will speak on being Mexican-American and include information on immigration, immigration reform and current issues.

Caudillo will talk about different programs utilized by the United States to address labor shortages, such as the “Bracero” Program (1942-64) and the varied attempts to assist temporary migrants find a more permanent home, including those who came as children and qualify for DACA protected status. Caudillo will connect his own family’s story to different U.S. government initiatives in order to illustrate the historical complexities of immigration and efforts at immigration reform.
