CLC sweeps Vermilion

The Raiders continued their volleyball success at Ely Saturday, sweeping Vermilion, 3-0, behind strong team blocking that had been evident the night before at Virginia. Coach Jane Peterson reported that the team compiled 12 ace serves in a good effort. Brainerd sophomore Alanna Hansen and Pierz freshman Lindsay Monson each pounded seven kills in a match dominated by the Division leaders., who ran their record to 17-5 and are ready for a homestand that should attract lots of fans to see the sixth-ranked unit from CLC. One of the biggest matches of the season is 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at home vs. nationally-ranked Itasca, whom CLC narrowly defeated at Grand Rapids on Sept. 26.
