Meet CLC’s new PSEO advisor & CIS coordinator

Central Lakes College is thrilled to welcome Phil Olsen as our new PSEO advisor and CIS coordinator. Phil will do a phenomenal job at working with both our PSEO and CIS students and schools. Find out more about Phil:

  1. What are you looking forward to in your new position? I am looking forward to the opportunity to work closer with our students. It is really exciting to have the opportunity to help pave these young students’ academic careers and to show them what opportunities await them, and how to plan for success in college.
  2. Tell us your professional history.  I grew up in Brainerd, I graduated from BHS in 2002. I have my AA from CLC, and my BA in Management and my MS in Project Management from the College of St. Scholastica.  I wrote my Master’s thesis on improving academic advising by using project management tools and techniques. I started working at CLC around 2004 in our Information Center. Since then I have had several roles around the college. I think I am known for my roles in the Business Office most.
  3. Tell us about your family: I have a wonderful wife, Aimee. Together, we have 4 fantastic children, Owen, Aiden, Alivia, and Ethan.
  4. What are your goals in the new position? I have several goals for this position. First and foremost, I want to ensure that student success and engagement continue to be the primary focus. As President Charlier says, “How does what we are doing help our students succeed?” Secondly, I want to help PSEO and CIS to grow. And third, I want to help streamline our back office processes that will make both PSEO and CIS processing more efficient and more accurate.
