CLC named one of nation’s best in concurrent enrollment

Central Lakes College is one of the best schools in the nation for high school students to earn college credit, according to College Counseling Services.

CLC was ranked in the top 50 institutions in the country offering college credit to high school students, according to a recent study done by College Counseling Services.

“This recognition speaks toward our efforts to establish partnerships with our regional high schools to offer expanded post-secondary opportunities for our region’s students,” said Paul Preimesberger, CLC’s Director of Secondary Relations. “Central Lakes College’s successful concurrent enrollment programs have been a collaborative effort driven by the sustained effort of leadership, faculty and staff from all partnering institutions.”

CLC offers CIS in nearly 30 high schools across the region. Those schools include: Aitkin, BBE, Brainerd, Browerville, Crosby-Ironton, Eagle Valley, Freshwater Education District, Greenway, Holdingford, Infinity Online, Isle, Little Falls, Long Prairie-Grey Eagle, Menahga, Monticello, Nevis, Northland, Onamia, Parkers Prairie, Pequot Lakes, Pierz-Healy, Pine River-Backus, Royalton, Sauk Centre, Sebeka, Staples-Motley, Swanville, Upsala, and Verndale.

Jayne Glaser, a counselor at Upsala and Swanville Area Schools, said the honor was fitting for the college.

“Central Lakes Colleges provides an excellent PSEO/CIS program for our high school junior and senior students who desire to get a jump start on their college coursework,” she said. “Their professors demonstrate a high degree of professionalism in each class taught, yet go ‘above and beyond’ to connect with each of our students, making them a part of the Central Lakes College community!”

Other Minnesota institutions named on the list were Minnesota State University and Northland Community and Technical College.
