Raider softball players, coach receive high honors

Several Raiders were honored in the Minnesota College Athletic Conference (MCAC) Softball All-Division awards and the All-MCAC Team.

Central Lakes College freshman pitcher and infielder, Kaitlyn Geschwill, was named the MCAC North Division Player-of-the-Year. Geschwill made 21 appearances in the pitching circle, starting 18 of them, and went 12-8 on the season. She ranked first in the MCAC North Division in wins and threw four shutouts, striking out 147 batters over 107.1 innings of work.

Head softball coach Ray Austin earned the MCAC North Division Coach-of-the-Year honor. Austin’s team went 26-14 on the season and put together an undefeated record in the MCAC North, going 16-0. The Raiders made it to the NJCAA District 13B Championship Game, dropping a tough game to the #1 ranked North Dakota State College of Science Wildcats. Austin led his Raiders to a share of the MCAC North Division title and now awaits a possible at-large selection to the NJCAA National Tournament.
