August: Osage County
Written by acclaimed playwright Tracy Letts and recipient of the 2008 Tony Award for Best Play and winner of the Pulitzer Prize for Drama, August: Osage County follows the Weston family as they unexpectedly converge on their Oklahoman family homestead after their patriarch goes missing. A maelstrom of repressed truths and unsettling secrets explode in a play that unflinchingly – and uproariously – explores the dark side of this Midwestern American family. The New York Times described August: Osage County as “fiercely funny and bitingly sad, this turbo-charged tragicomedy…doesn’t just jump-start the fall theater season – ‘August’ throws it instantaneously into high gear.”
August: Osage County runs June 6-15, 2024, and is directed by Cory Johnson, whose past shows at Central Lakes College include Silent Sky, Collected Stories, and Brighton Beach Memoirs. Roles are available for adults 20+ to 60+, and one female role for an actor in their late teens/early 20’s. Auditions for August: Osage County will be held at Central Lakes College in Brainerd on Saturday, April 6 at 2:00 PM in the Chalberg Theatre, Monday, April 8 at 5:00 PM in the Dryden Theatre, or by individual appointment with the Director before April 8th (to schedule an audition, please send an email to clcperformingarts@clcmn.edu.)
