CLC hosting 18th annual Winter Grazing Workshop

Central Lakes College is hosting the 18th annual Winter Grazing Workshop presented by the Crow Wing River Basin Forage Council (CWRBFC) on Feb. 1.

The seminar will highlight grazing management, integration of livestock into cropland, watering systems and farm transitions.

Featured speakers include Thor and Dana Didrickson of Badger, Minn., who are fourth-generation ranchers. The Didriksons will provide an overview of their operation and management techniques they employ, which local producers could utilize in their own operations.

CLC Farm Business Management instructor Nathan Converse will discuss the farm transition process. Other presenters will cover topics such as grazing management principles and livestock watering systems.

The workshop will be held at Central Lakes College, 1830 Airport Rd., Staples from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Vendors and sponsors will also be on hand with displays and handouts. Cost for the daylong workshop is $15 for one person or $25 for two, which includes morning and afternoon refreshments, lunch and speakers.
