AgCentric was awarded a $99,947 grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Risk Management Agency. This is the second year AgCentric received this grant.
AgCentric is a Minnesota State Center of Excellence in Agriculture made up of three colleges: CLC, Ridgewater College and Northland Community and Technical College. AgCentric works to develop and deliver the latest and most advanced agricultural knowledge and training in the region.
The primary focus of this grant is to assist beginning farmers in mitigating risks on their operation by providing tools to managing risk aggressively. Specifically, AgCentric will focus this grant project on human risk that will include family mental health and employee management.
“With today’s farm economy being strained significantly, AgCentric, with the support of the Risk Management Agency, is offering support to our beginning farmers in Minnesota through training and offering tools to manage risk in all areas of a farm business,” said Keith Olander, Director of AgCentric, Dean of Agricultural Studies, and Director of CLC Ag & Energy Center.
