Community invited to join CLC Community Band, Jazz Ensemble

Fall semester is nearing and that means its time to make some music! The vibrant Central Lakes College Community Band will begin rehearsing for its fall season on Monday, September 10. Rehearsals are Mondays from 7-9 pm in the band room.

Jazz Ensemble begins rehearsing Monday, August 27. The group rehearses Mondays and Wednesdays from 4-5:30 pm in the band room.

Each group is comprised of community members of all ages and students – both high school and college.

Advanced high school wind, percussion or jazz students who are interested in playing and receiving credit in college music should contact Jonathan Laflamme at jlaflamme@clcmn.edu.

More about Jonathan Laflamme:

Jonathan Laflamme is the new director of instrumental music at Central Lakes College. He replaces Steve Anderson, who recently retired. Laflamme was raised in Duluth, studied with Buddy Rich trumpeter professor Robert Baca at the University of Wisconsin, Eau Claire and completed his Master of Music Degree at St. Cloud State University.

“I am really excited to be a part of the college community at Central Lakes! Prior to this opportunity, I worked 14 years as a high school band director at Little Falls and Pierz,” he said. “In addition to all things music I enjoy fishing, bow hunting and outdoor sports and activities. I look forward to a fun and challenging year here at CLC!”
