Auditions will be held for the Brainerd Community Theatre production of the drama ‘Flowers for Algernon’ on Monday, Sept. 19 and Wednesday, Sept. 21. All auditions begin at 7 p.m. and are in the Dryden Theatre on the Brainerd campus of CLC.
The play calls for a cast of eight men and nine women, with age ranges for the roles of 20s to 60s. The cast also calls for one boy and one girl, age 8-10, and one teen boy age 13-16.
Rehearsals will be in the evenings, scheduled during the hours of 6 and 10 p.m. on weeknights. Performances of the play are Nov. 2 through 5, all in the evening, with an additional 2 p.m. matinee on Nov. 5.
Copies of the script are available for reading from the director. The audition will consist mainly of cold readings of the play. Children who audition are asked to present a brief piece from memory: a story, a poem, a cutting from a play.
