CLC instructor featured speaker at Organic Conference

thaddeusCentral Lakes College Specialty Crops Management instructor Thaddeus McCamant was a featured speaker at a Minnesota Department of Agriculture Organic Conference in St. Cloud Jan. 8-9.

At the event, McCamant spoke on three topics:

  • A three-hour workshop on growing perennial fruit.  This was an introductory education session describing why perennial fruit are different than annual crops like corn and why they cannot be treated the same.
  • A one-hour on new and emerging fruit for Minnesota.
  • A session on organic fruit production.

“Giving talks like this is an excellent way to reach out to new growers and beginning growers,” McCamant said. “I like to reach out to people who are planning new farms, so that they can avoid critical mistakes.”
