CLC Celebrates Medical Assistants Recognition Week

The Medical Assistant students at the Staples campus of Central Lakes College are gearing up to celebrate Medical Assistants Recognition Week, October 21-25, 2013, as designated by the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA). Medical assistants across the country will be recognized during this week and honored on Medical Assistants Recognition Day on Wednesday, October 23.

Medical assisting is an allied health profession whose practitioners function as members of the health care delivery team and perform administrative and clinical procedures. With their unique versatility, medical assistants are proving to be the allied health professional of choice for this decade and beyond. In fact, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, medical assisting continues to be projected as one of the fastest growing occupations.
In celebration of Medical Assistants Recognition Week, the students have planned special events and activities on the Staples campus. Students will be selling the “world famous” Butter Braid Pastries until October 24 to earn money for a spring field trip to the Shriners Hospital and the Mayo Clinic. Anyone wishing to purchase pastries may contact Dawn Michel (218-894-5137) by October 22. The pastries will be delivered on November 13.
Club leaders from CLC will be attending the State Fall AAMA Conference in Rochester, MN on October 26.
The AAMA is the premier organization serving the professional interests and educational needs of medical assistants. It provides numerous services that help medical assistants put their careers on a successful and rewarding track.
