Central Lakes College employee Sarah Gorham will present at the April 4 Cultural Thursday event. The program begins at noon in the Chalberg Theatre on the Brainerd campus. The free, public event will feature photos from India and the Kumbha Mela gathering that occurred there in February 2013.
The Kumbha Mela is an enormous gathering of people that takes place every 12 years on the banks of the Ganges river. Ms. Gorham attended the Kumbha Mela and toured several places in rural northern India with the non-profit Himalayan Institute. Her presentation will explain the cultural and religious significance of the Mela, which is the largest gathering of people in the world.
