Students and graduates from the Central Lakes College TRIO programs joined the college in celebrating National TRIO Day on Monday, February 24.
CLC has three TRIO programs: Two Upward Bound programs (since 2003), which work with area high school students and a Student Support Services program (since 2001), which serves college-age students.
“The impact of our programs on students is immeasurable—it’s life-changing,” said Charles Black Lance, Director of TRIO Programs at CLC. “Our dedicated staff provide personalized, one-on-one support to ensure every student thrives. We are honored to be part of their journey.”
TRIO is a set of federally-funded college–based educational opportunity outreach programs that motivate and support students from low-income backgrounds – including military veterans and students with disabilities. The programs provide academic tutoring, personal counseling, mentoring, financial guidance, and other supports necessary to promote college access, retention, and graduation.
Nation-wide more than 1,000 colleges, universities, and community agencies host more than 2,800 TRIO projects that serve more than 880,000 young people and adults. TRIO serves students of all racial and ethnic backgrounds.
