CLC music ensemble earns top honor

The Central Lakes Wind Symphony, an ensemble at Central Lakes College, was selected as the featured collegiate band for the Minnesota Music Educators Association (MMEA) State Convention. This is one of the highest honors a collegiate band can achieve in Minnesota. This recognition highlights the ensemble’s exceptional musicianship, artistry and dedication. This prestigious opportunity offers students invaluable educational experiences through rigorous performance preparation.

Comprising a diverse membership, including high school and college students, music educators, and enthusiasts, the ensemble embodies inclusivity by embracing individuals from varied backgrounds.

Community members are invited to join this or any of CLC’s musical ensembles. There is a meet and greet with CLC music directors, as well as optional auditions, from 4-8 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 26 in room E471, the Music Rehearsal Hall, Brainerd campus. An audition is required for those who would like to be in CLC’s semi-professional ensembles, Wind Symphony or Jazz Orchestra. Auditions are also an option for those who are new or want a different chair placement. For all auditions, please bring your instrument and a piece of music of your choosing.

All ensemble members are also invited to join a Greek Isles cruise in June 2025. For more information, please contact Dr. Jonathan Laflamme, CLC Director of Instrumental Music, at jonathan.laflamme@clcmn.edu or 218-855-8215
