CLC Clay Target team excels at league competition

The Central Lakes College Clay Target team earned top honors at the USA Clay Target Leagues spring trap competition. The group came out on top, winning their conference’s team title with a team score of 2084.5, among other honors.

The Raiders competed with Western Michigan (2059), the University of North Dakota (1975.5), South Dakota School of Mines (1436.5), Illinois College (1308), Maine Maritime Academy (655) and Garden Community College (551).

The trap team was led by Staples Motley graduate Kieth Rollins, who had the highest individual average in the conference and tied for the 4th highest average across the country. Pequot Lakes graduate Annika Wiczek had the 3rd highest average amongst female shooters in the conference.  Brainerd High School graduate Micheal Finch Jr. finished one spot out of medaling in 4th with a 24.20 Avg. Every shooter on the team scored this season in a team format that counts the top 7 shooters on each team every week.

The Raiders also fielded a 3-person squad that competed in skeet. In a conference that scored 5 shooters, the raiders finished 5th as a team with Finch (7th in nation Avg 22.90), and Rollins (12th Avg – 21.80) and Jacob Dobson (16th Avg – 21.0).  It was a strong showing from an undersized squad.
