380 scholarships awarded to students

The Central Lakes College Foundation announced this week that more than 380 scholarship awards were made for spring semester, totaling more that $190,000. That brings the total awarded from the Foundation this academic year to just over $375,000.

“Thanks to the generosity of our community we were able to increase our scholarship giving by $41,000 over last year,” said Jana Shogren, Director of Resource Development & the CLC Foundation. “We’re educating our future workforce here are CLC and these scholarships make a real difference to our students who are balancing school, family, employment, and so much more.”

These scholarships make a big impact on students. Tyler, a scholarship recipient, said:
“I moved to the Brainerd Area the summer of 2017 just before starting my freshman year at CLC. The small campus and the opportunities to volunteer and be involved in so many extra activities made the adjustment much easier for me. I was able to meet a lot of great people and get involved in things I love – service organizations, athletics, student life and more. I feel like this scholarship recognizes my extra curricular efforts and the additional volunteer service that I bring to the school and community. I am very grateful. ”
