The Raiders have faced a lot of adversity in the past couple of weeks. Their initial 17 man roster has been cut down to just 12 for various reasons. That hasn’t stopped Coach Russell and the Raiders from continuing to do what they came here to do. Now that they have their core 12 guys they can depend on, the team can now point their greater focus on winning games, and that’s just what they have been doing as of late.
CLC came into this game recognized as one of the top 3 teams in the MCAC Northern Division with a 11-5 record. One of those other two teams at the top of the division was Rainy River, who came into this game 13-2. The game lived up to the hype as it was a great game filled with memorable highlights.
Freshman center Thomas Kornbaum had a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds. He also added four assists to his totals as he made a statement that he is one of the best men in the MCAC. Leading scorer Keonte Jenkins also chimed in 18 points and four assists. Jenkins assisted on a Kornbaum alley oop that sucked the life out of Rainy River. Timothy Boyd added seven points and 11 rebounds.
The Raiders look to build on this victory and continue their winning ways into February, the perfect time for them to get hot and head into March Madness. CLC now sits at the top half of the division, only looking up to Northland after recently knocking off Rainy River and Vermillion. The Raiders will face Northland Wednesday, February 1st.
