Audition for Monty Python’s Spamalot

Auditions for the Brainerd Community Theatre production of ‘Monty Python’s Spamalot’ will be held on Wednesday and Thursday, January 27 and 28, at 7 p.m. in the Chalberg Theatre on the Brainerd campus of Central Lakes College.

‘Spamalot’ is a musical described as being ‘lovingly ripped off from the motion picture Monty Python and the Holy Grail.’ It retells the legend of King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table, and features a bevy of beautiful show girls, not to mention cows, killer rabbits, and French people.

The cast calls for at least 6 male singers and 7 female singers, with a chorus ensemble of up to 10 additional actors. There are several non-singing roles available. The musical will perform April 14-16 and 21-23 at 7:30 p.m. each evening. Rehearsals for many, but not all, cast will begin the week of February 1.

Auditionees are asked to prepare a portion of an up-tempo show tune that best showcases their voice. In addition to singing, auditionees will participate in a short dance audition, so are asked to wear comfortable shoes (dance shoes or sneakers) and loose clothing that allows free movement. A portion of the audition will also include readings from the script. The entire process will take about an hour.
