Trio - Upward Bound

General Information

The Upward Bound Program is funded by the US Department of Education (DOE) under the Higher Education Act, Title IV, TRIO Programs. The grant was awarded to Central Lakes College in 2003. The program is funded to serve 50 students total in the specific target schools of Staples-Motley, Browerville, Bertha-Hewitt, Long Prairie-Grey Eagle, and Eagle Valley. trio logo

Upward Bound is a year-round educational program for high school students who are from families that meet Federal income guidelines and/or who potentially would be the first generation to graduate from a 4-year college/university.  It includes a six-week summer program on a college campus to help prepare for the post-secondary experience. The program targets ninth through twelfth grade students to help them complete high school and to enter, and graduate from, a post-secondary institution.

Upward Bound’s objectives are for all of the students it serves to attend a Postsecondary Educational Institution. Necessary services are provided to the students by the staff to meet these goals.
