InformationGETTING TO THE THEATRE Central Lakes College Theatre / 501 West College Drive / Brainerd, MN 56401 Click here for maps of the Brainerd campus and surrounding streets. Driving from Baxter Travel on MN 371. At the intersection of MN 371 Glory Road / College Road, turn east onto College Road. Stay in the left lane. Go straight through the next stoplight (located at the corner of the College Square gas station). Campus will be on the right (or south) side of the street. Look for a blue sign that says "Main Entrance" and turn right into the North Parking Lot. Driving from Brainerd At the stoplight intersection of South 6th Street (a.k.a. MN Business 371) and Quince Street, turn west (towards the Brainerd High School). At South 5th Street, there will be a four-way intersection with only three stop signs. At your stop-sign, turn left (or south) down the hill. Continue down the hill, across the Mississippi River bridge, and up a second hill. Campus will be on the left (or south) side of the street. Look for a blue sign that says "Main Entrance" and turn left into the North Parking Lot. Once in the Main Entrance parking lot The east end (near the row of handicap parking) is the closest place to park. Walk to the left corner of the building. Enter through Door #4 and veer past TRIO and ACE college services counters. Follow the blue tile wall around the first right corner. The Chalberg Theatre is at the end of this hallway. The Box Office window is a blue countertop set into the wall just outside the Chalberg theatre. For those familiar with the Brainerd campus, other parking lots and doors do access the building, but door #4 is the closest door to the Box Office. The Chalberg and the Dryden At the Central Lakes College Brainerd campus, we have two theaters! Our auditorium (or proscenium theater) is called the John Chalberg Theatre. As of 2010, the Chalberg's chairs and multi-media equipment have been updated, and it currently seats 271 max. Our smaller, black-box theater is named the Bob Dryden Theatre. The Dryden has flexible staging and seats approximately 100 which varies from show to show. For driving directions, scroll down to “Where is CLC Theatre?” If you are a guest performer or are delivering equipment, scroll down to “Equipment load-in.” Occasionally, we produce events that take place somewhere other than the Chalberg or Dryden - sometimes, off-campus entirely! Before leaving home, please double-check where the performance is being held. It can be confusing and frustrating to arrive at a locked building or empty theater. Quickly checking your ticket or receipt will save you from last-minute hassle. Accessibility Both of our venues - the Chalberg and the Dryden- are accessible to patrons with wheelchairs. Exact seating varies from event to event, so let us know what your needs are when you order tickets. The nearest handicap-accessible parking is in the Main Entrance parking lot on the east end (nearest Door #4). Accommodations can be also made for vision, hearing, or other mobility needs. Notify the Box Office at least 72-hours in advance to make arrangements. CLC is committed to a policy of nondiscrimination in employment and education opportunity. ENJOYING THE THEATRE Arriving Early Plan on getting to the theater early! Give yourself approximately 15 minutes for things like parking, picking up tickets at will-call, and using the restroom. (Unlike the movies, we do not show previews!) The doors to the theater usually open 30 minutes prior to show time; this is known as “house open.” Arriving Late Depending on demand, we cannot guarantee your seats if you are late. Late seating is at the discretion of the house manager. As a courtesy to our audience and for the safety of our performers, we seat latecomers only at a break in the action and near the door to the hallway. If the event is assigned seating, wait until intermission to find your assigned seat. Cameras, Cell-phones, and Souvenirs Unless announced otherwise, turn off cell-phones during the show. If you need to be contacted during the performance, please ask callers to telephone the Box Office at (218)855-8199. Notify the house manager that you may be expecting a call, and s/he will give you any messages during intermission. Additionally, recording the performance is not allowed - including flash photography or video/audio recording. Performers may be willing to meet and greet after the performance. Some events have merchandise for sale in the lobby during or after the show. Expect to pay with cash or check for these items Young Children Our shows are generally for audiences of all ages (5 years old and above), but unless advertised otherwise, infants and toddlers should stay home. This is due to the length and noise-level of most shows. If you choose to bring a child under 5 years old, be aware that admission is charged even if s/he sits on a parent's lap. When the show’s content is not appropriate for certain ages, advertising will state as such. When in doubt, ask the Box Office or contact the production's director (if listed).
