Study Tips and Services

Knowing when to relax is just as important as knowing when to study. Once your exams end, clean house around your study area and pack away your notes from the quarter. Check to be sure you have necessary supplies for next quarter.

Because most people speak at a rate of 125 words per minute while most listen at 700 words per minutes, its is easy to lose concentration during lectures. Here are ways to become an active listener:

  • Lean forward and sit up straight.

  • Make eye contact with the speaker.

  • Listen for what is not said.

  • Ask questions.

  • Focus on topic, not delivery.

Benjamin Franklin said, "If you love life, then do not squander time; for that's the stuff life is made of"

Avoid Eye Strain

  • Relax in a chair or on the floor.

  • Put the palms of your hands over your eyes.

  • Try to see total blackness for two three minutes.

  • Breath deeply.

  • Open eyes slowly.

  • Relax a minute more before you continue reading
