Intercollegiate Athletics
The Central Lakes College Raiders provide varsity teams in football, volleyball, men's and women's basketball, baseball, fastpitch softball, and men's and women's golf. While practices are conducted on the Brainerd campus, students from both campuses are encouraged to participate in any or all programs in which they are interested.

CLC is dedicated to providing an exceptional experience to its student athletes. CLC student athletes are encouraged to reach their potential through demanding daily practices. Those who are willing to dedicate their time and efforts to a competitive college athletic program are invited to participate in Raider athletics.

Raider athletics has a proud tradition of fielding successful teams that have brought respect and a healthy reputation for sportsmanship to the region. Central Lakes College is a member of the Minnesota Community College Conference (MCCC) and the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA). All teams (with the exception of football) can qualify to compete for a state, region and national championship

Intramurals
The Intramural Sports Program at Central Lakes College offers students a variety of organized activities ranging from competitive and non-competitive team and individual sports (including Co-ed Volleyball, Co-ed Football, Men's Basketball, Women's Basketball, Co-ed Bowling, Co-ed Softball and Golf), to group and individual fitness activities (including fitness program design). In addition, non-organized recreational activities such as weight lifting are provided. Other activities are offered and students are encouraged to suggest new activities.

Theatre
The Theatre Department is a busy, exciting part of the Central Lakes College community. With six productions during the academic year and three-to-four additional summer shows, CLC Theatre offers students unmatched opportunity for theatre study and theatre experience.

Productions are mounted in the John Chalberg Theatre, a 289-seat proscenium theatre, and the Bob Dryden Theatre, a flexible black box space with seating up to 200. CLC Theatre boasts modern lighting and sound equipment, a well-equipped scene shop, and computerized box office system.

Academically, students can pursue a theatre emphasis as part of the AA degree, choosing from courses such as Intro. to Theatre, acting, Creative Drama, Directing, Stage Makeup, Technical Theatre, and Costuming. Under development is an AS degree program in technical Theatre to give students the opportunity for advanced studies in Lighting and Sound for the theatre, Scene Painting, Stage Management, Theatre Management, and Theatrical Design. Additionally, students in the AS program will take course in welding, robotics, and electronics from college course offerings.

Because of its thirty-year history of excellence in the Brainerd Lakes Area, CLC Theatre draws thousands of people from as far as 100 miles away to its annual productions. The Theatre has an established Children's Theatre program, and a reputation for producing an eclectic assortment of theatre works.

Students in theatre can also qualify to join Delta Psi Omega, the national theatre honorary society for two-year colleges. But perhaps the most attractive part of the program is the immediacy and variety of theatre experiences offered to students from their first days in the program. With a large number of work study positions and scholarships available, CLC Theatre strives to make theatre accessible and fun for the theatre-minded student.

Art Exhibits
Artists from the student body, faculty and community exhibit work in a series of one-person shows and groups exhibits throughout the year. Exhibits by regionally and nationally known artists are presented in the CLC Gallery each semester, often in conjunction with slide presentations by the artist near the conclusion of each exhibit.

Music
The Music Department has more than 150 community and student musicians participating each semester in choir, community band, jazz band, the brass ensemble, and private lessons. Concerts and recitals are given, playing for public audiences throughout the year. Nationally renowned guest artists, such as signing actor William Warfield, have participated within the music program. The music program is recognized for its high professional standards, both in teaching and performing. A wide variety of academic courses is also provided by the Music Department.

Westbank Journal
The Westbank Journal is the award-winning college newspaper produced by and for the students of Central Lakes College. Publication of the newspaper rests in the hands of the student editorial staff.

The newspaper is printed monthly in a professional format using the latest in desktop publishing techniques. All work on the paper is done by students. Each year several positions are open to students at the college. In the spring of each year, the editorial staff is chosen for the following year. Any of these positions which go unfilled are offered to new students throughout the academic year.

Each fall all students are offered the opportunity to become reporters, photographers, advertising sales personnel, and layout and design artists. No experience is needed. To become a member of the Westbank Journal staff, contact the editor or faculty advisor.

Students working on the newspaper can receive credit through the media practicum courses or payment through financial aid. However, students cannot get both credit and be a student employee at the same time
