  • Please proceed with your Orientation by clicking on the arrow key below.  At the end of the orientation, you will be asked to complete a submission page. Be sure to click the submit button after you have supplied the requested information.  This will ensure that we receive notification that you have completed the orientation.

Are You Ready?
  • Before you proceed with your Orientation, please make sure you have done the following:


  • Completed your Application and submitted it to the Admissions Office
  • Paid your Application Fee of $20
  • Completed your Basic Skills Assessment
  • Submitted your Transcript Release Form if still in high school


  • If you have not completed any of these items, please contact the Admissions Office before you proceed.

Student Orientation Process
  • Three things you need to know!


  • 1. If you are a new student or returning after more than a year away, you need to complete this orientation program.


  • 2. This orientation will provide you with information about student services, and college policies and procedures.

  • 3. Completing this On-Line Orientation will allow you to obtain:
  • a. A Student Tech ID number.  An example of a    student tech id number (Tech ID) is 00082147.


  • b. A PIN number. Your initial PIN is your birthday in    the yymmdd format. Example:  if your birthday is    April 19, 1980, your initial pin would be 800419.

  •   c. Your Student Technical ID together with your PIN number will allow you to:
  • -Register for classes
  • -Review your academic records
  • -Check your financial aid status
  • -Pay your tuition on line
  • -Check your term grades


  • You may contact the Registration Department at 218-855-8031 the next business day after completing your Orientation to obtain your Tech ID and PIN Number.  You will need these numbers to register for classes.

On-Line Access to CLC        
Network
  • You will be given your own CLC network username and password for the Novell Log-On Screen which will allow you to use any college computer.
  •     Your Username and Password will allow you to log in to the CLC network, access your email account and log in to the college network.


  • You will be responsible for checking your campus email for official CLC correspondence notices.

Username and Password
  • Your Username will be the first four letters of your last name
  •        plus a four digit random number.
  •        Your password will be your birthday (as recorded in the student
  •        record system) in the YYMMDD format until you change it.
  •        The following is an example of the Novell network log on:
  •        Your Last Name - Larson    Your Birthday - June 30 1983
    • Log on as:
    •  Username – lars1234              Password - 830630

  •      Once you have completed this orientation and registered for classes, your username account will be activated automatically.
  •     You will be able to access your user account on our computers on the first day of school using your Username and Password.


  •     Your Username and Password must be entered on the Novell Log On Screen when you start up a computer to log into the network.

  • College Obligations
  • The college will use the college-issued e-mail account to communicate with students.
  • The college will specify the requirements for on-line learning in the course syllabus.
  • The college will provide access to computers with internet capabilities.
  • Redirecting Email
  • Students may redirect or forward their CLC assigned email address to a personal email address but do so at their own risk.
  • Redirecting emails and subsequently losing or missing email messages does not relieve students from the obligation to respond to college-initiated messages or notices.  The College is not responsible for handling email from outside vendors.
  • Privacy
  • Messages and notices sent via the student email system are subject to applicable privacy laws and policies, including, but not limited to the Minnesota Government Data Practices Act (MGDPA) and the Federal Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).  Users of the student email system should exercise caution when communicating confidential or sensitive information.

Registration
  • To access the online registration you will need:
    • Your CLC Student Tech ID (located on your CLC picture ID, printed class schedule or tuition statements) or your Social Security #.
    • Your 6-digit PIN (Personal Identification Number) (see steps 2-3).

  • Step 3:    At the “Lookup” screen, you need to enter your social security number (no spaces or hyphens) and your 6-digit PIN.  Your initial PIN number is your birth date in year, month and day format (yymmdd).  Example:  if your birthday is November 20, 1980, your initial PIN umber would be 801120.


  • Note:     After entering the system for the first time, you will be required to change your initial PIN to a 6-digit number (it cannot begin with “0”) known only to you.  YOU NEED TO REMEMBER THIS PIN NUMBER as you will need it every time you use CLC Online Registration.

  • The Central Lakes College Library provides you with  physical materials and 24/7 electronic access from any computer.

Photo Identification Card

  • Your Photo Identification Card contains your student Tech ID number and identifies you as a Central Lakes College student.
  • You will need to have your bar-coded ID card (Student Tech ID) made in the library.  The bar-coded card is necessary for checking out materials from the library, and also provides you with access to some campus activities.

  • The Bookstore carries the required books, supplies and equipment for your CLC courses and various other products including the following:

Purchasing Books & Supplies


  • Check our website @ www.clcbookstore.com for a list of books and supplies for your courses.
  • Bring a copy of your schedule when purchasing your books at the bookstore.
  • The bookstore shelves are arranged alphabetically by department with the shelf tags corresponding to your course schedule.
  • Books can be purchased at the campus stores or by calling 218-855-8248 to have your order shipped.

Bookstore Payments
  • The bookstores accept cash, check, VISA, MasterCard & Discover.
  • Students with a completed financial aid file or third party funding authorization may charge books on account, beginning two weeks prior to the start of the semester and through the 7th day of the semester.

Bookstore Returns


  • All returns require a receipt.
  • Items must be returned within the add/drop period of the semester for which they were purchased (by the fifth day of the semester).
  • All items must be returned in the condition in which they were purchased in order to receive full credit.

Bookstore PSEO Policy
  • Post Secondary Enrolled Students are allowed to charge required books and a reasonable amount of required supplies that will be used up in their program.
  • Books purchased by PSEO students are the property of CLC and should be returned to the campus bookstore at the end of the semester.
  • Books for developmental courses are not covered by PSEO.

Am I Eligible For Aid?
  • Most financial aid is awarded on the basis of financial need.  Need is the difference between the cost of attending college and the resources you and your family have to pay for college.
  • To receive aid you must:
    • Demonstrate need
    • Have a high school diploma, G.E.D. or pass the Ability to Benefit exam
    • Enroll in a degree program

How Do I Apply?
  • Financial Aid must be applied for each year by using the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). You can apply on-line or use a paper application available in the Financial Aid Office.  The code for Central Lakes College is 002339.  The process takes up to 6 weeks, so you should apply early.

What Type of Aid am I eligible for?
  •     Grants: Money you do not have to pay back.


  •     Loans: Money you need to pay back.


  •     Work Study: You can work up to 10 hours per week  for extra income.


  • Scholarships and outside funding may also be available.

When Can I Get My Aid?
  • The Financial Aid Office and the Business Office work with Registration to determine the correct dollar amount for your aid.
  • Your aid disbursement is made to you on or after the 12th school day of the fall and spring terms and on or after the 10th school day of the summer term.

How Much Is Tuition
At CLC?
  • Tuition rates are set annually.  Please check our website @ http://www.clcmn.edu/businessoffice for up-to-date rates.


  • Central Lakes College participates with North Dakota, South Dakota, Manitoba, Michigan, Missouri, Kansas, Wisconsin, and Nebraska for tuition reciprocity.  Please see the Student Handbook for more information.

How Do I Know How Much Tuition I Will Owe?
  • Your tuition fee statement will list all of the tuition and fees you owe.  The fee statement does not show the amount of financial aid for which you may be eligible.


  • Please check your account online at http://www.clcmn.edu/businessoffice.  Click on student account balances on the left side of the screen and follow the directions provided.

How Do I Pay My Tuition?
  • Tuition and fee payments are paid through financial aid, third-party funding, scholarships or personal funds.  You can pay in person, by mail, by credit card or on the web.


  • Students who are unable to pay the tuition in full must make payment arrangements.  A minimum payment of $350.00 is required plus the late fee.  All tuition and fees must be paid prior to registering for your next term.

When Do I Have To Pay My Tuition?

  • Tuition is due five (5) days prior to the start of each semester.

What If I Don’t Pay My Tuition?
  • Non-payment of tuition will result in your debt being sent to collections and you will not be able to register for subsequent terms.

Can I Drop or Add Classes?
    • You can drop or add a class, without a penalty, during the first 5 days of the fall and spring semesters, and during the first 3 days of summer semester.

Can I Withdraw From a Class?
    • You  can withdraw from a class after the drop/add period and 10 days prior to the beginning of finals’ week.


    •   A withdrawal will be given a “W” grade on your transcript, which does not affect your GPA.  A withdrawal will, however, affect your course completion rate, which could affect your probation/suspension status.

Can I Transfer in Credits From Another College?

    • If you wish to transfer in credits from another college, you must have an official transcript sent to the CLC Registrar’s office.

  • Using both your Tech ID and PIN, you can access your records on the college Web site (www.clcmn.edu/registration).
  •     You can:
      • View and print your unofficial transcripts
      • View and print your grades
      • View and pay your tuition
      • Change your address and phone number

Satisfactory
Academic Progress
  • You are required to make satisfactory academic progress toward the completion of a degree, diploma, or certificate.


  • Academic Progress is identified by reviewing your cumulative grade point average and your course completion rate.

How to succeed!

      • Maintaining a minimum 2.0 cumulative grade
      • point average.


      • Maintaining a minimum 67% or more cumulative course completion rate.

Probation and Suspension
  • If you fail to meet academic standards, you will be placed on academic probation.


  • If you fail to meet the academic standards for two consecutive semesters, you will be placed on academic suspension.

  • The Lakewood Health System is contracted to provide health services to you at Central Lakes College.


  • A Registered Nurse is available on both campuses two days a week to provide services.

  • You have finished your Central Lakes College Orientation. One business day after you complete the following Orientation Submission Form, you may call Registration at 218-855-8031 or 1-800-933-0346 ext. 8031 to obtain your Tech ID and Pin number.
  • OR
  • When you attend an on campus registration session, you will receive your Tech ID and Pin number at that time.
  • Remember!  You need these numbers to register for classes.
