COVID precaution: spectators not allowed at basketball games through February 4

Covid cases and positivity rates in Minnesota and our communities are increasing dramatically. Cases on our campuses have also risen to levels above last fall.

To support our two often repeated priorities of preserving the health and safety of the CLC community and ensuring that students can be successful, it’s critical that we protect our primary mission – academics and keeping students on campuses. In accordance with the guidance provided by MDH and Minnesota State, we must shift once again to further reduce traffic on campuses.

Regrettably, effective January 18th and through at least February 4th we will implement a 3-week slowdown in activities by:

  1. Pausing public participation in all CLC events, both on and off campuses including home basketball games. It’s our goal to continue student participation while limiting exposure.
  2. Suspending outside organizations’ access to our facilities to host events, although our long-term partners (i.e. Community Dental Clinic, MN Department of Agriculture, etc.) in our facilities will be permitted to continue their operations.

We are proud of our Raiders basketball team, coaches, and fans for their diligence in following Covid protocols this season.  However, we do need to limit public exposure for all CLC events during the next three weeks as we experience the Omicron variant surge.

We will, of course, continue to monitor the situation and decide about activities after the three-week slowdown. Again, we regret that this shift is necessary, but we hope to be able to resume some of our important public interactions as soon as safety will allow.
