A letter from President Charlier regarding COVID-19

Dear CLC Students,

Our top priority at Central Lakes College is the health and safety of our campus community. As the COVID-19 situation continue to change, we are working with Minnesota State and the Minnesota Department of Health to ensure we are providing you with the safest learning environment possible.

As Chancellor Malhotra shared, all Minnesota State colleges and universities are acting with a unified voice and action plan to meet the needs of our students during this time. We are committed to ensuring each student’s success and to protecting our communities by joining the national effort to slow the spread of COVID-19.

In order to help you complete your courses and stay healthy, Central Lakes College will be implementing the following:

  • For the week of March 16-22, spring break has been extended, and no classes (including those that are currently online) will be held. Please check D2L and your student email regularly, as your instructors will be contacting you with more information about what your courses will look like when classes resume March 23 in an alternate format. These alternative formats will use online methods, alternate assignments, and may include limited classroom or lab time with adjustments made to ensure the safety of the learning environment.
  • We understand that the current situation is challenging and affects you academically and personally. As you navigate the changes in your courses, questions are likely to arise. Please know that there are many resources available to help you. The Computer Commons will be open during regular hours, and our libraries provide after hours access to computers. Should you need help logging into or navigating D2L, please reach out to our Help Desk at 218-855-8200, and for question specific to your classes, please reach out to your instructors
  • This unprecedented situation is challenging on many levels. Whether it is the uncertainly associated with the global situation, changes to your courses, or concern for health, increased stress is likely. We invite you to reach out the many resources at CLC to help during this time. Feel free to contact the Counseling Services or 218-855-8015) or refer to our Employee Directory to reach anyone at the College with whom you’ve made a connection. We are here to help.
  • Rest assured that CLC will continue to provide student support services through this difficult time. While it may be necessary to limit hours of operation or how those services are accessed, it’s important that you have access to services including, but not limited to, the library, computer commons, tutoring, food service, academic advising, counseling, and the food pantry. For details, call the Welcome Center at 218-855-8000or visit www.clcmn.edu.
  • In order to minimize social contact, it is necessary that we cancel the majority of college and student life events. At list of cancellations will be maintained on the college website.
  • We ask that students prepare for this transition by ensuring access to and comfort with technologies and resources such as CLC email, D2L, and Blackboard Connect Emergency Alert. Please contact the Help Desk or 218-855-8200 for assistance.
  • For up-to-date information visit CLC COVID-19.

We understand the challenges that our current situation creates in your life and want you to know that you are not alone. We value the education of each of our students, as well as the safety of each member of the college community. Please know that each and every member of the CLC family stands ready to support you through this time.

Please do not hesitate to contact us at 218-855-8000 or sending a message to askclc@clcmn.edu.

Sincerely,

Dr. Hara Charlier
