CLC student to attend National Leadership Conference

Central Lakes College student Shayla Makowski Budrow is one of two exceptional college students from the Brainerd lakes area to have been awarded a scholarship for travel, lodging, and attendance at the National Conference for College Women Student Leaders (NCCWSL) to take place at the University of Maryland from May 27 – 30 , 2020.

NCCWSL is for women serious about creating meaningful impacts on their campus, mobilizing their communities, and preparing for personal and professional success after graduation. N

Shayla Makowski Budrow is a sophomore at Central Lakes College (CLC). After receiving her associates degree this spring she will transfer to the University of Minnesota Duluth to earn a bachelor’s degree in psychology. Shayla works part time in the CLC Student Life Center and as a recreation coach for Brainerd Parks and Recreation. She has served on the CLC Rosenmeier, Master Plan, and Budget and Tuition Committees as well as the Native Advisory Committee. Ms Budrow plays in the college wind symphony and sings in the choir. She is the CLC Student Senate President.

The Women’s Leadership Fund, AAUW-MN and AAUW Brainerd Lakes Area Branch cosponsor the $1000 scholarship for each individual. The AAUW mission is to advance equity for women and girls through advocacy, education, philanthropy, and research. The Women’s Leadership Fund, Little Falls, seeks to accelerate the number, effectiveness and impact of women in organizational leadership roles in Central Minnesota.
