CLC’s Laflamme named one of “50 Directors Who Make a Difference”

Central Lakes College’s Director of Instrument Music Jonathan Laflamme was named one of “50 Directors Who Make a Difference” by the School Band and Orchestra Magazine.

In its 21st year, the SBO Magazine reviews hundreds of nominations and selects one winner from each state. Laflamme was chosen to represent Minnesota.

According to SBO, “Music is very special to people. Directors were nominated by students, both former and current colleagues, musical instrument retailers, band parents, administrators, friends, former band directors, and sometimes a spouse of a director who admires the hard work and dedication their other half gives to their school music programs.”

“This is an unanticipated honor,” Laflamme said. “I am extremely humbled and encouraged with this award. I am aware of its existence and also the vast number of nominations. I was simply not expecting to be chosen. I would like to thank my anonymous nominator and all of my students over the years from the bottom of my heart.”

Laflamme has been teaching music for 15 years, and recently joined CLC after teaching high school band in Little Falls and Pierz for 14 years.
