Hara Charlier named president of Central Lakes College

Hara_Charlier-2The Minnesota State Colleges and Universities Board of Trustees has named Hara Charlier president of Central Lakes College (CLC). The appointment becomes effective July 1, 2016.
 
“Hara Charlier brings to Central Lakes College an impressive wealth of rural community college experience,” said Steven Rosenstone, chancellor of Minnesota State Colleges and Universities. “Dr. Charlier is a tremendously collaborative leader who will work closely with students, faculty, staff, and community leaders to meet the needs of the Chain of Lakes region.”
 
Charlier has served as vice president of instruction and student services at Virginia Highlands Community College since 2012. Previously, she served Blue Ridge Community College (Va.) as dean of life science and human services from 2010 to 2012; as interim vice president of instruction and student services from 2009 to 2010; as dean of life science and human services from 2008 to 2009; and as assistant professor of biology from 2005 to 2007. She also served Synoptics, Inc. as operations director, director of support services, and scientific support manager from 2000 to 2005, and Miami University (OH) as an instructor of microbiology from 1995 to 2000. She holds a bachelor’s degree from Cornell University, a master’s from Miami University (OH), and a doctorate from Old Dominion University (Va.).
 
Charlier will succeed Larry Lundblad who has served as president of Central Lakes College since 2006 and has announced his intention to retire at the end of the academic year.
