Mock Presidential Election results

CctznjuUkAAQa7Q.jpg-largeThe results are in for a Mock Presidential Election held on the recent Bridges Career Exploration Day at CLC Friday, March 4.

The poll was open to everyone, including CLC instructors, staff, students and high school visitors, though a majority of voters were high school students.

Steve Wenzel, CLC political science instructor, said, “I was pleasantly surprised that Rubio defeated Trump among the student vote because all the chatter among students who visited was for Trump. The student Republican vote for Rubio also mirrors the statewide Republican vote for Rubio over Trump in Minnesota at the Republican caucuses.”

Wenzel continued, “The student Mock Presidential Election was a good exercise and the students took a great interest in coming by to vote in the election. They seemed to appreciate the opportunity to do so. The poll is a good gauge of public opinion because students are often mirroring their parents feelings from home.”

David Piasecki, CLC economics instructor, said “On politics, I believe Minnesota kids are a lot smarter than the rest of the nation.”
