National awards

The Sigma Delta chapter of the American Criminal Justice Association’s national grand chapter, Lambda Alpha Epsilon, represented Central Lakes College at the 74th national ACJA conference in Memphis, Tenn. Sigma Delta earned nine awards, including first place in physical agility for Cherelle Boleman, Brainerd (pictured), in the age 36-up division. Boleman also was chosen as the student representative for an expense-paid trip to Cincinnati, Ohio for the national conference in 2012. The Crime Scene team of Boleman, Steve Smith, and Bridget Ryan, all of Brainerd, won first place in the Lower Division (undergraduates). Savannah Martinson of Isle, Erin Butler of Brainerd, and Caitlin Robinson of Merrifield teamed up for third place. Co-advisers Gae and Dave Davis and Nicole Roncall of Brainerd as the Crime Scene team in the Professional Division, captured second place. In shooting, the Professional Division trio of Derek Johnson of Pillager, Dave Davis, and Aaron Schiller of Wadena took third. Dave Davis and Gae Davis each placed third in agility among 36-up competitors, and Robinson finished second in the 18-25 agility age group.
