Football team knocks off Rochester

In a Minnesota College Athletic Conference showdown on Sat., Sept. 25 the nation’s 18th ranked Central Lakes College Raiders (5-0) upset the 12th-ranked Rochester Yellowjackets 28-21 at Findorff Field on the CLC campus in Brainerd. The Raiders have now won three of the past four contests between the teams and are expected to rise in the NJCAA Division III poll this week. CLC’s Dominique Corder at quarterback led the winners as they broke down the Yellowjacket defense to amass 445 yards and four touchdowns. Corder, a sophomore from Indianapolis, found the Yellowjackets’ second-ranked defensive deficiencies with regularity in the first half, connecting on 16 of 21 passes for 208 yards and touchdowns strikes of 27 to Barrett Powell and 26 to Tyler Erickson. Corder, who finished with 245 passing yards, added 83 yards on the ground to lead all rushers. CLC next hosts perennial rival Minnesota State Community and Technical College of Fergus Falls in a 1:30 p.m. Raider Homecoming battle Sat., Oct. 2. (Mark Slupe photo)
