Candidate visits

Tom Horner, Independence Party candidate for Governor of Minnesota, spoke to an audience of administrators, faculty, staff, and students in the Cube Friday, Sept. 24 on the Brainerd campus of Central Lakes College. Among the topics addressed were the cost of tuition and textbooks, MnSCU leadership, liberal arts and career education, and veterans’ higher eduation funding. His visit included stops at the CLC Heavy Equipment Operations and Maintenance campus and the Ag and Energy Center near Staples. Greeting him at CLC following a debate at Madden’s were President Larry Lundblad, Vice President Suresh Tiwari, Vice President Kari Christiansen, Political Science instructor Steve Wenzel, and MnSCU Legislative Liaison Bernie Roberts, a CLC alumnus. Members of the Student Senate were among those asking questions of the candidate.
