 INITIATIVE FOUNDATION IQ Magazine Web Intern Initiative Foundation, Little Falls Description: The Initiative Foundation is seeking a temporary intern (paid position) to help launch a new website for an award-winning magazine. In a six-week time frame, the IQ Magazine Web Intern will be responsible for converting 100+ archived print articles into an attractive and readable web format. The Initiative Foundation is the seventh largest community foundation in Minnesota, specializing in community leadership and planning, children and families, environmental preservation, business financing and quality jobs, grants and donor services. Dates & Hours: Around February 1 through March 15, 2008 (dates somewhat flexible). Approximately 24 hours per week, Monday through Friday at Little Falls office, some off-site work may be possible. Compensation: $8.00/hour plus reimbursement for project-related mileage and expenses. Supervision: Director of Communications, Grants & Communications Specialist Duties: 1. Website Publishing (90%) - Responsible for uploading and converting magazine content onto newly-designed IQ Magazine website. Content includes written articles as well as graphs, photos and other images. Will include some graphic or layout redesign/reformatting. 2. Administrative Support (10%) - Provide support to communications staff for meeting preparation and follow-up activities. Update and maintain photo archives. Desired Skills: • Graphic Design, Communications, Marketing, or Journalism majors preferred. • Working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop, specifically image correction/resizing. • Aptitude of overall design concepts. • Familiarity with website design and programming a plus. • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office software and Internet research. • Strong spelling, grammar and proofreading skills. • Ability to think and work creatively and independently. • Responsible, professional work ethic. Assist in planning and implementing daily activities with program area leaders and co workers to meet the needs and interests of in assigned cabin. Also, keep up-to-date Bowel Movement (BM) Charts required for specific. 4. Make sure all participant's belongings are properly checked in upon arrival and all items are present and accounted for when leaving. Assist them in caring for personal belongings. See that they have an adequate supply of clean clothing by delivering dirty items to the laundry. 5. Responsible for assisting counselors with writing experience reports at the completion of each session. Assist in writing a postcard home. Assist counselors with writing reports regarding accidents/incidents, behavior logs, seizure reports, and making buttons to be given at the end of each session. 6. Responsible for assisting counselors with "Cabin Watch" (during rest hour and in evening after bedtime). Counselor in Trainings may not serve on "Cabin Duty" alone. 7. Assist with responsibility for the appearance and cleanliness of cabin at all times for health and safety of. 8. Attend at least one Planning Meeting with a counseling staff member and communicate information discussed at meeting with co workers. 9. Write self evaluations assigned by Program manager. 10. Counselor in Trainings will have meetings during set rest hours and/or activity hours. Counselor in Trainings will be allowed day or evening (in by 12:30 a.m.) time off each session. A parent/guardian must sign a permission slip that allows the Counselor in Training to leave the campgrounds, and with who.

Responsible to: Village Leader & Program Manager Responsibilities: 1. Allow for a safe, enjoyable, and fun trip, while allowing the as much independence as possible. 2. Introduce day trip to one another and to staff. Confirm all are present before leaving camp. 3. Involve in making choices during the trips (i.e. selecting their food; equipment when bowling and mini-golfing; rides at an amusement park; etc.). 4. Following the trips, write a weekly summary of the group's activity. Include examples of how the vacationer responded, recommenda¬tions for future trips. 5. Communicate each individual's experience on the day trip to counseling staff and care providers both verbally and with a written report. 6. Manage trip funds (cash/travelers checks/credit card) and documentation of all expenses: gas, food, and attractions. Assist with their personal money and purchases, if needed. 7. Responsible to: Program Manager / Respite Program Specialist / Respite Coordinator Responsibilities: 1. Responsible for the health, personal care needs, safety and general welfare of all participants involved in the Respite weekend. Assist individuals with physical disabilities or other limitations who need support with eating, walking, transferring, toileting, etc. 2. Responsible to assist in planning and implementing daily activities with other Respite Staff to meet the needs and interests of the cabin group. Also to take part in all activities offering participants encouragement and positive reinforcement. 3. Responsible for maintaining a safe and non-threatening atmosphere for participants and staff. 4. Responsible to the Respite Coordinator for notification of sickness/injury and to assist with treatments needed by participants. Keep Health Care Profiles up to date, charting the completion of Activities of Daily Living. 5. Make sure all participants’ belongings are properly checked in upon arrival and all items areaccounted for when leaving. Assist participants in caring for personal belongings. Monitor supply of clean clothing for participants. 6. Responsible for assisting Respite Coordinator in writing Experience Reports, behavior logs, seizure reports, and incident/accident reports on each individual as necessary. 7. Responsible at all times for the appearance and cleanliness of cabin / house. 8. Responsible for assisting in cooking all meals (season appropriate). 9. Provide information for written evaluations of volunteers assigned to cabin group. Counselors are to set an appropriate example for volunteers. 10. Write self-evaluations to be discussed and then filed. One personal evaluation will be given by Program Manager/Respite Program Specialist upon completion of self-evaluations. Complete an end of the season Respite program evaluation. 11. To demonstrate a commitment to Friendship Ventures by conducting oneself in a professional manner. 12.  The Program Specialist Internship is designed to provide direct support to the various programs and services of Friendship Ventures. Each position is structured differently to meet the interests and needs of the staff member as well as the agency’s staffing needs. Each staff member will have a primary program which they will focus on and will also provide support as needed to the other agency programs. Specific job descriptions vary according to the programs. Samples are included for your reference. When a staff member is not directly involved with a program or service they are expected to have weekly office hours in which they will assist with a variety of projects which may include such things as staff recruitment, program development, clerical support or maintenance of program areas. Friendship Ventures programs and services include: Resident Camp Our most popular service provides opportunities for children and adults to enjoy and benefit from an outdoor recreational and leisure experience during summer and winter seasons. Activities at these resident sites are specially designed to meet the needs and abilities of each participant. In pursuit of a more balanced and independent lifestyle, life-long leisure skills are offered through special interest sessions which include: sailing, bicycling, golf, health and fitness, cooking, sports, and creative arts. Creative Options Respite Care This year-round service is offered at Camp Friendship and Eden Wood and gives parents and care providers a break from the daily demands of caring for a person with a disability. At the same time, participants can relax and re-energize in a home-like setting. Sojourns Resort Options Sojourns offer a flexible, low-cost option for families, care providers, or group home and facility residents to vacation together. These options allow people to just relax and enjoy time away from one's daily routine. Individuals can spend one or more days enjoying activities at the Camp Friendship or Eden Wood site. Vocational and Leisure Services This program supports in an individual with a developmental disability in supported employment and in the area of leisure activities.
