International Student Admissions Process Steps
1. Admission to an academic program

Application Dates
Recommended application deadlines for all students are:

Fall Semester apply by May 1
Spring Semester apply by October 1
Summer semester is not a recommended start date. 

Central Lakes College operates on a rolling admission basis. This means that applications will be reviewed for acceptance as they are received.  All materials should be submitted before the application deadline in order for International Admissions to guarantee that application materials are reviewed in time for students to obtain visas and arrive at Central Lakes College in time for orientation.

International Student Admission Requirements
International students who are not permanent residents of the United States may be considered for admission after submitting the following;

1. A completed International Student Application Form.

2. Non-refundable application fee of $20 US dollars.

3. Official transcripts from each high school/secondary school, college, university, and ESOL program attended.  Transcripts must be translated into English and officially stamped and mailed.

4. One of the following documentations of English proficiency:

-(TOEFL)Test of English Foreign Language with a score of 500 or higher (paper) or 173 or higher (computer) or 61or higher (internet based).

- Official transcript that shows recent completion of a college-level composition course      with a grade of "C" or better from a United States college or university.

English Proficiency Requirements
All non-native English speakers who have not received a degree from a U.S. English-speaking institution are required to provide evidence of English proficiency. The following contains test and course completion information Central Lakes College accepts as evidence of English proficiency. 

TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) minimum scores/levels

- 500 Paper-based

- 173 Computer-based

- 61  Internet- based

Or

Official transcript that shows recent completion of a college-level composition course with a grade of "C" or better from a United States college or university.

College Placement Testing
Central Lakes College uses the State approved assessment, Accuplacer, for both ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) testing and general college test.  ESOL students will be required to assess in the areas of reading, writing, sentence meaning, and listening.  All students will be required to assess in the areas of reading and mathematics.  Assessment information and sample assessments can be found at http://www.clcmn.edu/admissions/assessment.html

Students requiring additional English language support will be required to take ESOL courses and seek professional tutorial support.  Services will be scheduled through the program coordinator.

CLC does not offer an intensive Engish program.  However, based on ESL Assessment cut scores, students may be required to take either
ENGL 1510    English for Speakers of Other Languages I
ENGL 1512    English for Speakers of Other Languages II

SAT/ACT
Central Lakes College does not require international students to take the SAT/ACT.

International Credential Evaluation:
Students who have attended a college/university outside of the United States will need to obtain an International Credential Evaluation by contacting one of the services listed below.  These organizations will examine the transcript and prepare a report that will be used to appropriately grant credit for previous studies.  Central lakes College will accept evaluations performed by any of these agencies; however, the student is encourage to contact more than one of them to compare costs and processing times.
