March 10 - March 18

This Spring a small team of Central Lakes College students and CLC community members will travel as Habitat for Humanity volunteers to Retalhuleu, Guatemala to participate in a home building project for a family-in-need there. About half of the time during that week we will spend actively on the build site working beside skilled Guatemalan house-builders, the family getting the home, their friends, and curious neighbors. Other times during the week we will go on cultural activities where we will learn about the social, cultural, economic, and political context in which the Guatemalan people live.

We will spend our final day in the historical city of Antigua, where we will have options tochoose from a variety of activities such as walking tours of the city, tour a coffee plantation, or hiking on a volcano. The trip cost of $1780 covers all in-country meals, lodging, travel, and cultural activities. Airfare and personal spending money are extra.

Once you become a team member, Habitat for Humanity provides you with resources for fund-raising. This is a one-credit course, GLST 1491 . . . open to students and community members
