Welcome to the Mechanical Drafting & Design program website! This site gives a broad overview of the Mechanical Drafting & Design program here at Central Lakes College as well as useful links for prospective students, current students and graduates.

The mechanical drafting field continues to grow and change. We understand the need to supply industry with top of the line graduates. We take pride in remaining current in the drafting field and invite you to come and take a look at our program. Our drafting instructor is open to visitors in the computer labs and is happy to answer any questions you may have.

The all new Diploma and A.A.S options
We now offer a new 44 credit diploma that you can complete in three consecutive semesters. You can enroll in the Fall and graduate the next Summer with over 400 hundred hours of 2D CAD and over 700 hours of 3D modeling.

The new A.A.S. will include the 44 credit diploma plus an additional 16 liberal arts credits.

The new Diploma and A.A.S. were designed with the approval of companies that hire our graduates.

What is Mechanical Drafting?

Mechanical Drafting is the first process involved in the creation of most manufactured products. Drafters use CAD from the initial concept to the final design. Central Lakes College implements AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and Pro-Engineer.

What's in it for you?

1. Drafters out of Central Lakes College have been averaging about $18.00 per hour. That is approximately $37,000 per year.
2. Companies will often offer to help pay your tuition for continuing education.
