General
Portable media
equipment is defined as that equipment which has been designated by the
manufacturer as portable and has a protective carrying case
included. Media equipment that meets this criteria may be taken off-campus
by CLC faculty or staff to be used in an instructional setting at other
CLC locations such as the Staples Campus or the Little Falls High School
where classes are conducted regularly. It may also be taken off-campus for
use in special presentations by faculty or staff at other
locations. Examples
of Portable and Non-Portable Media Equipment
Portable media
equipment includes certain models of filmstrip projectors, movie
projectors, slide projectors, and camcorders. Much of this equipment is
well suited for portable use. Adequate protective cases have been included
with the equipment. Non-portable media
equipment includes desktop models of liquid crystal display (LCD)
projectors, laser disk players and overhead projectors that have not been
designed for portable use. Protective cases are not available for this
equipment. Protection
and Preservation of Media Equipment
Media Equipment such
as Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) Projectors are costly. Repair or replacement funds are
scarce. This policy is intended to protect the value of this equipment and
insure that it is in good condition for its intended use in the
classroom. Requests
for Off Campus use of Equipment by Outside Groups No media equipment,
portable or non-portable, will be loaned or rented to other
governmental agencies, non-profit organizations or businesses for off
campus use.
